I've spent most of my life with a camera in one hand and curiosity in the other—capturing the world, studying human behavior, and searching for meaning beneath the surface. I earned a psychology degree not to counsel, but to understand. What makes people come alive? How do we express who we really are in a world that tells us to shrink? I didn’t have all the answers, so I did what many of us do: I took the “safe path.” A corporate job in mortgage lending—just for now. Thirteen years later, I had built a successful career. But even then, I was the outlier; constantly innovating, rewriting the rules, and bringing heart into an industry not known for having one.

That's when I stopped trying to choose between my creative fire and my strategic mind. I stopped splitting myself in two. And that's when Amara & Co. was born.

I was 25 when I picked up my first SLR camera— a hobby I started simply to break up the monotony of the day-to-day grind.
At the time, I felt stuck. Disconnected from myself. Like a robot just going through the motions, working in corporate America without any real sense of purpose or joy. Little did I know, that small spark — that simple act of choosing something just for me — would change the entire course of my life.
Back then, I was still deep in the corporate world — living it, breathing it, pouring my heart into a company that, in the end, laid me off. At the time, it felt devastating. It rocked my identity and left me questioning everything.
But what I couldn’t see then was that it wasn’t the end. It was the beginning. That push, that painful moment of loss, was actually a divine redirection — one that forced me to finally step into what was always meant for me: a life of entrepreneurship, creativity, freedom, and impact. When I am doing what I love, I thrive. I am not a woman meant to build someone else’s dream. I am a woman meant to nurture my own — and help others do the same.
AMARA was born from this knowing. It is the soul of everything I believe: that you are not here to live a life of quiet resignation. You are here to create, to flourish, to become everything your heart dares to dream. Even when the path feels uncertain. Even when fear whispers “play it safe.” What is meant for you will not fail you — because it was never meant to.
